Hale Honu Private Estate is a magnificent property located in south Maui, near the resort town of Wailea. With a sprawling landscape perfect for a wedding event, this property is one of Maui’s most unique venues. It is offered exclusively through Belle Destination Events. The gorgeous home on the property sets a beautiful backdrop to the event areas. The home itself is off-limits; however, the lawn, deck and pool cabana offer plenty of spacious area for a wedding of up to 50 guests.

The Front Lawn: The front lawn is immediately visible once you enter the property. The lawn area features perfectly manicured grass surrounded by a hedge that offers complete privacy. There is a large modern flagstone staircase featuring a progressive waterfall, making for a gorgeous entrance for the bride and the bridal party to begin the ceremony.
The Deck: The Deck is located on the roof top of the Pool Cabana, and features amazing ocean views. The deck is large and expansive so there is plenty of room for lounges, cocktail tables, entertainment, etc. This is an ideal location for a cocktail reception to follow the ceremony. The views during sunset are spectacular. There is no existing lighting in this location, so if you wish to hold your dinner in this area, lighting must be brought in.
The Pool Cabana: The cabana is a large building featuring an indoor/ outdoor dining area next to the pool. This is a perfect location for the dinner reception portion of the event. The doors open up to the outside – giving the location an inside meets outside feeling. This is a covered area, featuring inset dimmable lighting. Overhead lighting is usually something that needs to be brought in at a private estate lawn; however, there is no need to secure outside lighting at this location, equating to about ~$1,000-$1,500.00 in savings. The pool cabana has a full kitchen that is closed off to the dining area. The pool itself is very large, and lights up beautifully at night. One of the benefits of this property is that this location is a rain-back-up and there is no need to rent a tent.
The property is actually a residential property; however the main house is off limits and not available for event use. The property is quite large, and use of the house is not something that is “missed” by any means.
Features: There are a few notable features of the property. First is the existing sound system – there is a sound system built in to both the deck and the pool cabana, although most prefer to have live entertainment. This is available for use for an additional fee.
The other feature is the 16’ retractable screen located on the far side of the pool. This is perfectly visible from the Pool Cabana as well as the Deck. This is a great option if you would like to feature a slideshow or presentation during the dinner reception and/or cocktail reception. This is available for use at an additional fee; however, please note that the screen cannot be used during inclement weather including rain or high winds.
The Maile Suite: There is a portion of the main house that is available for getting ready on the day of your wedding. This guest house apartment is 2 stories. The first floor features a full-kitchen, dining, half bath, and living room area. The top floor is a large ocean-view master bedroom with a large master bath. There is also a lanai with seating area that overlooks the incredible Makena Coast and Pacific Ocean. This is perfect for getting ready on the day-of and spending the wedding night in a gorgeous, romantic accommodation. Imagine waking up to a gorgeous sunny day, with the sprawling landscape of ocean outside your window!
All private estates will require strict adherence to the property guidelines and sometimes guidelines can change as county or state regulations are introduced.
Coordination: Hale Honu does not include any planning services in the cost of the site, and requires that all events that take place on property are coordinated by Belle Destination Events, and will require Full-Planning Services. NO EXCEPTIONS. This service is a separate cost – please inquire with Belle Destination Events as to your estimated planning fees. Please note that Hale Honu is a valuable property with valuable elements, and we have chosen to work with Belle Destination Events due to their knowledge, expertise, and the care they take to protect our beautiful home. They will provide you with a flawless event experience.
Maximum Capacity: The maximum capacity of Hale Honu is 75 guests. We recognize that you may not always be able to predict your exact guest count; therefore, if your guest count exceeds 75, there is a fee for extra guests.
The Maile Suite: The Maile suite requires special guidelines. All shoes must be removed at the entry to the house. Food and beverage are allowed in the kitchen area only. Water and champagne are permitted in the bedroom and living areas. A maximum of 8 guests are allowed in the Maile Suite for getting ready.
Curfew: Entertainment must end by 10:00 pm in accordance with the Maui County noise ordinance. Guests are also required to leave by this time to allow vendors to strike and breakdown the event. Access to the property is available starting at 10:00 am on the for vendor set-up. If any services are required to take place for your event the day before, or the day after, advance arrangements must be made through your coordinator and additional fees may apply. Please note that this is not always foreseeable and your coordinator will advise based on your event details as they develop.
Restrooms: There are 2 restrooms located within the pool cabana available for guest use. No portable restrooms are required. Access to the main house and Maile Suite are strictly prohibited during the event, even for restroom access (aside from the Bride & Groom if renting the Maile Suite).
Parking: Group transportation is a requirement for ALL guests (including the bridal party) at this location as parking is extremely limited. No parking is allowed on property (even the bridal party). your coordinator must arrange for complete group transportation. Please also note that due to the remote location and narrow roadways, the largest vehicles that can access the property are 25 passenger mini busses and standard 8 passenger limousines.
Rain Back-Up: The pool cabana is a fabulous option for rain back-up. No tents are allowed on property since staking into the ground can damage the lawn areas and irrigation lines. Your coordinator will discuss your options.
Lighting: There is existing lighting located inside the pool cabana – this is inset dim-able lighting set into the ceiling both indoors and outdoors. The property also features quite a bit of basic up-lighting as well, although you may choose to add additional accent lighting. There is no existing lighting located on the deck, so if you wish to use this location after dark, lighting would need to be added.
Entertainment: All forms of entertainment are allowed on property. This includes bands, DJs, amplified entertainment, etc. Musicians are not able to plug into the existing sound system; therefore must provide their own amplification. If booking a large band or dance performance, a stage may need to be provided – your coordinator will advise based on your entertainment selection.
Pool: Use of the pool is strictly prohibited. By renting the property, you understand that the pool can be dangerous, and that this can be a risk. Your coordinator will provide more information upon booking.
Cleaning: There is a Standard Cleaning Fee which covers standard cleaning required after an event. Should the property require additional deep cleaning, additional fees will apply and be deducted from the damage deposit. This is a rare occurrence.
