The Year in Review: Our Top Wedding Trends of 2017

What a fantastic year 2017 has been—full of beautiful events and amazing moments. Thank you for being a part of it! Now that engagement season has officially begun, more and more brides (and grooms!) are starting to plan for 2018. Before we jump full swing ahead into another year of gorgeous weddings, we'd like to reflect on our favorite wedding details of 2017. We hesitate to use the word "trend" as we hope these elements stick around through 2018 so we will call them stand-out design moments!

THE OVER-THE-TOP FLORAL CEREMONY ARCH

From tight and compact flowers in abundance to loose and natural blooms, our brides wanted a ceremony focal point with some serious wow factor. Clara and Elbert's semi-circle arch of romantic blooms by Mandy Grace Designs at the Four Seasons Lanai was stunning.

WHITE BRIDESMAIDS' DRESSES

Typically, in days past, wedding guests (especially bridesmaids!) would try to avoid wearing the color white. It was a major style fopaux. But this year we noticed at least a handful of bridal parties wore matching white dresses and we actually love the look! It's such a refreshing, monochromatic color palette.

CALLIGRAPHY SIGNAGE & ESCORT CARD DISPLAYS

When it comes to wedding signage and escort card displays, simplicity rules. Calligraphy has proven to be a classic with varying font styles to express different personalities and themes. We especially love the look on clear surfaces!

MODERN TROPICAL DECOR DETAILS

Since most of the weddings that we plan and design take place in Hawaii, it's only natural that our clients want to incorporate tropical details into their decor. Lately, we have been adding fun and modern touches to the scene (think indigo linens, brass candle holders and cool lounge furniture).

DRAMATIC BRIDAL VEILS

There is something so classic and breathtaking about a bride in a veil. A long, cathedral veil is a sure way to add drama to your entrance! Our brides this year proved that you can be barefoot and bohemian and very glamorous too.
