When Natasha and Zach got engaged they were certain about one thing— they wanted to host a small destination wedding in a warm and tropical locale. The Midwest residents also wanted to escape winter and treat their friends and family to the ultimate vacation. Natasha says, "The thought of traveling out of the United States seemed complicated for our guests with the hassle of customs, language barriers and currency exchange. Hawaii offered so many things that met our wants and desires and we had never been! We narrowed down the islands based on the weather at the time and fell in love with Maui. It was absolutely gorgeous with breathtaking landscape, beautiful sunsets and great outdoor activities."
We planned Natasha and Zach's wedding keeping the words intimate, tropical and laid-back in mind. With a guest list of under forty attendees, finding a location was a breeze. "Zach and I were captivated by the gorgeous landscape at the Olowalu Plantation House and envisioned having our ceremony under the giant tree overlooking the ocean. To add an element of romance, eight beautiful leis were strung from the tree and served as a picturesque backdrop for the big day," says the bride.
Natasha fell in love with the Hawaiian haku lei and floral designer Teresa Sena used local greenery and white orchids to create the delicate headpiece. The bride's custom graduated white crown flower lei draped down her back for a dramatic look. "For my bouquet I pictured something different, not a traditional bouquet. I love the look of the monstera leaf, so I knew this had to be the focal point. The bold leaf was layered with a simple cascading orchid and accompanying greens."
Natasha continues, "The long family-style table table decor was stunning—our planner at Belle and florist Teresa Sena nailed it! Bold, tropical greens and palms were placed in tall cylinder vases, flanked with simple flowers in shades of white. Ambient lighting was essential, so candles of various sizes, along with tea lights in geometric terrariums, lined the center of the table. Overall the look was very modern, classic and clean. Our wedding day was stress-free and full of Maui's beautiful nature. Plus we had amazing drinks, delicious food, groovy music, entertaining games and wonderful company!"
