Real Wedding: Marla + Justin

Marla and Justin’s wedding day was full of adventure and love, from a helicopter tour with the wedding party to an intimate backyard ceremony. Their unique destination wedding incorporated two different color palettes for the ceremony and reception, and guests were surprised with Polynesian dancers as entertainment during dinner!

For the ceremony, the use of a neutral color palette of whites, creams and greenery complemented the natural beauty of the island, whereas a vibrant color palette using pinks, oranges, purples and yellows really showcased the tropical elegance of Hawaii for their festive reception.

For Marla and Justin, celebrating their love in Maui was a no-brainer. They met on Spring break with their children at the Grand Wailea hotel, and it was love at first sight. Coming back to this very special place to exchange vows and make their love for one another official was nothing short of magical!

We absolutely loved being a part of this gorgeous celebration and even more excited to have their day featured on Artfully Wed! Take a look below at all of the beautifully intimate details.

Real Wedding: Stephanie + Adam

Stephanie and Adam’s picturesque wedding day was beautifully different than what you would expect from a Hawaiian wedding. This American and Aussie couple choose Hawaii for it’s perfect meeting point for their family and friends to come from all over the world! However, they didn’t choose Hawaii for its white sandy beaches, but rather The Villa at the Calasa Gulch Olive Tree Farm located on its stunning mountainside!

This romantic vineyard style location was perfect for their intimate wedding celebration, of 46 guests, to watch the couple walk down the aisle in a clearing amongst rows of olive trees! The celebration continued with a cozy food focused reception, with a family-style Italian meal, craft cocktails, and oven fired pizzas!

It was a joyful celebration with friends and family and we were so thrilled to be a part of creating their magical day! Take a look below at all of the gorgeous details from Stephanie and Adam’s Hawaiian mountainside wedding!

Real Wedding: Olivia + Michael

Reflecting back on Olivia and Michael’s magical day - brings us much inspiration for future oceanfront celebrations! From the incredible white sand beaches where the couple first met to the tropical inspired reception decor, this was an absolutely unforgettable day!

It was important to the couple to incorporate locally sourced flowers. Olivia, wore a beautiful, multiple strand Pikake flower lei which gracefully adorned her open back wedding  dress. The Pikake flower is from the jasmine family and is an incredibly delicate and heavenly fragrant flower. This flower lei was a favorite of Hawaiian princess Kaiulani and is believed to be a part of the old courtship ritual. The flower crown, and the couple's stunning floral arch, were all locally sourced flowers as well. The many mini pineapples  used for the groom and groomsmen boutonnieres as well as the reception décor was the perfect tropical touch!

One of the most special moments of the day had to be the hula dances performed by Olivia, her mother, cousins, and niece in honor of her late father - surprising Michael for a tear jerking reception! This beautifully heartwarming couple and family were a joy to work with and we at Belle Destination Events are so thrilled to have Olivia and Michael’s ocean front celebration featured on 100 Layer Cake, spreading their beautiful Hawaiian love story for all to be inspired by!

Take a peek below at all of the gorgeous love filled details!

Belle's Favorite Beach Wedding Hairstyles

Picturesque landscapes with exotic trees towering over your ceremony space. Waves in foamy perfection crashing down in the background. The magnificence of mountains standing tall with flowing streams of tropical bliss. Blooming flowers sparkling in the sunny glow of their natural habitat. This is the kind of stuff wedding dreams are made of! However, when it comes to a destination wedding, beach wedding hairstyles can be a bit tricky. Heat, wind and humidity can alter your hairdo and leave you displeased with your look and pictures – and you didn’t come all this way to look anything less than amazing!

Whether you are eloping to an exotic tropical locale or having a formal affair at an ocean front hotel, beach weddings never go out of style. Belle Destination has compiled some of our favorite beach wedding hairstyles from past clients that are as romantic and spontaneous as the atmosphere themselves.

Check out these hairstyles that helped brides withstand a day in the sun.

Belle’s Best Bridal Bouquets!

With floral inspiration all around us, it can definitely be a challenge narrowing down floral design when it comes to your wedding day. With the onslaught of social media and Pinterest and the ubiquitous accessibility of content available to us, there really is seemingly endless possibility. So, while we may not be florists ourselves, we’ve seen it all from monochromatic florals to fun and festive tropical floral design, and are here to walk you through the design process—starting with all things floral!

With some guidance, we are here to help you pinpoint your floral aesthetic, allowing you to design the perfect bridal bouquet, complimenting floral arrangements for your wedding party, your ceremony arch, and your reception florals. Your bouquet style should remain consistent with the personality and overall aesthetic of your event. If your flowers are over the top, your bouquet should be dramatic and complementary to that grand style. Or, if your style is more of an earthy, organic vibe, style your bouquet to be wild and textured. Sizing is also an important factor to consider. Be sure to take your personal size into account when designing your perfect bouquet. If you are a petite build, don’t create something too large—the bouquet will be heavy and uncomfortable to carry for a long period of time, which is the last thing you’d want on your special day!

One last note, don’t forget to personalize your stems! This is a perfect place to get sentimental and add a personal item to your day. Add your grandmother’s locket or a family member’s handkerchief or brooch to the stems. This way you can carry a remembrance or heirloom throughout the day with the comfort that your loved ones are close by and are a part of your celebration, even if they are no longer with you.

Take a look below at some of our favorite bridal bouquet styles, and hopefully get some inspiration for your special day!

Maui Wedding: Laura & Marco

Laura and Marco’s stunning Maui wedding day was nothing short of spectacular. Located at a private estate on Maui’s South shore, the venue provided the perfect backdrop to their intimate ceremony and love-filled reception. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Laura and Marco basked in the incredible emotion of this amazing moment and the joy was captured so perfectly in their gorgeous smiles. It takes just one look at these amazing photos to see how truly happy they are together.

We had so much fun with this overall design blending Laura’s aesthetic concepts – classic backdrops adorned with modern elements. Her floral style was very unique, as she loved compositions of modern groupings of florals, long stemmed callalilies, mirrors, and tons of glass. The color scheme was white with dramatic shades of pink – the spectrum swinging from blush to burgundy, complimented by green. Their gorgeous archway complimented with a unique assortment of greenery and composed blooms, rose petal carpets aisle, and the elegant chair backings were the perfect additions to the ceremony space. The staircase, accompanied by the dramatic tiered waterfall, was the most incredible entrance for the bridal processional and set the stage for an emotional ceremony. Bella Bloom created great depth and compositions with their florals for an overall sophisticated aesthetic. The brilliant Maui Maka Photography, who did an incredible job immortalizing this special occasion, captured every last detail and every last smile! Maui Wedding: Caroline & Phil

Caroline and Phil’s Maui wedding day is such a highlight in our event planning experience—for so many reasons! It’s always incredible designing a wedding based around a couple’s unique needs, but Phil and Caroline exceeded all our expectations when it comes to a couple in love. Their appreciation for tradition really resonated with us, and the St. Benedicts “The Painted Church” served the perfect venue for their love-filled ceremony. The colorful church was such a vibrant focal point to set the tone for their overall aesthetic. The wedding reception, as well as the events leading up to the big day, were held at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort, Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii. This served as the perfect mix of diverse locations for them to hold their events. The weekend festivities began with the Welcome Lobster Bake on the beach. With our toes in the sand, guests casually dined on lobster and finished with a bonfire as well as Hawaiian storyteller, who gave their guests an intimate and authentic Hawaiian cultural experience by sharing Hawaiian legends and stories. Their Farmer’s Market Rehearsal Dinner was a relaxing event that highlighted the incredible local produce that the Big Island has to offer and allowed guests to sip mojitos and enjoy live folk music. The culmination of the weekend was the elegant wedding reception. The bright blooms at the reception as well as the charming tabletop décor and place settings created a memorable night that wrapped up their amazing adventure. We are so grateful to have been a part of such a joyous occasion, and wish these two a lifetime of happiness!

Real Wedding: Deirdre & Darryl

When it comes to your wedding day, it’s all about bringing your unique vision to life. Whether you gravitate towards a bold, colorful aesthetic, or a relaxed, rustic design, you can be sure that the Hawaiian coast is the perfect canvas ready to be transformed. Deirdre and Darryl’s romantic Hawaiian nuptials were nothing short of spectacular—and definitely a personal favorite in our book! From the floral arch draped in sheer white linens to the outdoor tent with suspended chandeliers, their décor and design epitomizes the perfect island wedding. The ceremony was quite simply picturesque, and full of romance. We adore weddings that transition into the night, and Deirdre and Darryl's reception was no exception. The couple danced the night away with friends and family, soaking up every last minute of their special day. Even though you just can’t beat the Hawaiian sunset, at the end of the day, it’s all about love and laughter. We couldn’t be happier for these two. Enjoy!

Jane & Tristan's Wine Country Wedding in Mendocino Valley

When Jane broke the news to me that she & Tristan decided to have their wedding in Mendocino Valley, I was absolutely thrilled!  Knowing Jane, I knew it was going to be an amazing celebration that we would all remember for a long time. Lucky for her, all the tools and resources to plan a fabulous wedding were right at her finger-tips; I mean, this girl could have planned it all in her sleep. Jane is so used to handling all of the details for other couples that she insisted on doing it all herself - but who can blame her? She is after-all, one of the most sought-after wedding planners on Maui. A handful of us came early and kicked off the celebration with a night out in The City for a bachelor/bachelorette party - Naturally, we started at a 1920's era speakeasy bar called Bourbon and Branch where we sipped on delightful concoctions, buzzing with excitement with the festivities of the nuptials to come. We continued to the financial district to Tropisueno - a charming authentic Mexican restaurant with an urban touch, amazing food and ambiance. We ate to our hearts content,  toasted to the Bride and Groom to-be, and enjoyed each other's company; it was a good time : )

A small intimate group of Jane & Tristan's closest family and friends gathered for a weekend of fun in the Anderson Valley; everyone was from out of town. The weekend wedding adventure officially began the day before the ceremony. We all gradually made our way along the beautiful drive towards Mendocino. The 1st rendezvous took place at Toulouse Vineyards  for our start to some wine-tasting fun - All wedding guests slowly trickled onto the outdoor patio of the wine tasting room. Once everyone had arrived and before everyone had a chance to get comfortable, we were all off caravaning to the next winery of our tasting extravaganza - GoldenEye Winery.  We were all graciously greeted with a beautiful picnic-lunch hosted by Jane & Tristan under a large oak tree. No cute DIY picnic detail was spared. Feeling relaxed and slightly satiated we made our way to the last winery of our wine tasting tour: Esterlina Vineyards. This boutique,  family owned winery is the exact location where Tristan proposed to Jane some months before. The winery sits high on a hill top overlooking the Anderson Valley, definitely one of the most romantic views I have seen.

We eventually all made it to the boutique Mendocino Valley hotel that we called home for a couple of days. It was perfect. Quaint, quiet, small town vibe with little to no cell reception. We quickly checked in and re-assembled for a festive Southern BBQ rehearsal dinner where we indulged in "low & slow " Carolina BBQ pork butt, baked potatoes and corn muffins with butter and  honey. The night was memorable ending in a game of Celebrity - (I like to call it charades on steroids) in our very own private hotel lobby.

The wedding day arrived and the weather was exceptionally nice. The locals in the area said that it was so unusual for it be that warm and sunny without any fog at that time of year - It was a perfect day to get married. Jane & Tristan are a no-frills couple; they both enjoy the finer simplicities in life which definitely projected on their wedding day. Good food and excellent wine was a must with a few simple decor details. A soft -hues color palate of pastels and golds combining beautiful minimalistic decor set the tone for the special day. The girls and I made sure all details were in place before relaxing with Jane sipping on champagne as the final getting ready touches were done. It was so fun being on the other side of the fence, enjoying the anticipation and excitement of what was to come. Everything flowed so nicely and flawlessly sans cell phone or clip-board (the essentials we are so used to having for a wedding day)- it all unfolded organically and before you know it, Jane was walking down the aisle with each parent at her side, smiling from cheek to cheek as she joined her soul mate Tristan at the alter. Tristan's father Dario performed a heart-felt ceremony. Jane and Tristan exchanged their personal vows to each other and declared their unconditional love in front of their family and friends. The late afternoon cocktail reception progressed into the most amazing California sunset which graced us with the perfect Golden Light that seemed to last forever. Rebecca and Jonathan from Tamiz Photography captured it all so flawlessly - It was so fun to have them there. After-all they are one of our all time favorite wedding photographers.

We were all escorted into the cozy dinning room for dinner at the Inn at Cobler's Walk. Delicious food smells of goat cheese encrusted rack of lamb and beef bourguignon wafted in the room while the wine was being generously poured. It really was a delightful evening. At the end of dinner, as everyone enjoyed more delicious wine and affogato for dessert, Jane and Tristan stood in front of their 40 guests and individually thanked each one  for coming and told them why they mean so much to the both of them. It was a cheerful, heartfelt and loving gesture, clearly the perfect way to start a life time of happiness together.

Great Start to 2012!

Good morning 2012!  Okay, yes... So we are a little belated.  But, we have been  busy little wedding planning bees, preparing for our first event of the new year.  We find ourselves in the gorgeous island of Hawaii – a.k.a. “The Big Island,” – for the wedding of Caroline & Phil.   This amazing couple is about to tie the knot at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.  It will be a 3-day event extravaganza, leading up to their wedding day, which will be one for the record books.  We have loved working with this American/Aussie pair since this past summer, and we could not ask for better clients.  We are looking forward to making their wedding day an unforgettable experience. We have an amazing team of Hawaii wedding vendors including the fabulous husband and wife wedding photography team Whitney and Jesse from Our Labor of Love flying in from Atlanta, Georgia, the beautiful girls of Bella Bloom Floral Boutique from Maui and incredible slack key guitarist LT Smooth, just to mention a few.  More photos and details to come soon....
